Enchanting gets a bad rap in my community. I'd like to make an argument for a way to make interacting with enchanting more fun and less frustrating.
The crux of the issue with enchanting is that trying to obtain exactly the enchantment that you want to use is a game of luck based gambling. If you're searching for a specific enchantment then you have to enchant an item and check to see if it has the enchantment that you want. If it doesn't, discard the item or disenchant it with the grinding wheel and try again. In order to have enough experience to accomplish this, you probably need to have a mob grinder. It's fun to build the mob grinder, but then you never have to fight monsters to gain experience again.
The fun part of enchanting is going out and adventuring, gaining experience, and coming back to upgrade your tools. Fighting monsters, collecting materials to make new tools, that's adventuring.
The worst part about grinding for enchantments is that every time you enchant an item, it doesn't bring you closer to the enchantment that you actually want. You can enchant for hours and never get the particular enchantment that you're looking for.
My main answer to that is, stop looking for specific enchantments. You don't need the best enchantments in the game, mostly because you literally don't need anything in Minecraft. That's right, Minecraft is a video game. The things you need are things that keep you alive. Nothing in Minecraft keeps you alive, it's a video game. You don't need to do anything in Minecraft if it's boring.
